Lahore: Land spanning 30 kanals has been retrieved in Jhuggian Nagaran, Sabzazar Scheme from illegal occupation, a news source reported. The land has been cleared as a result of a major anti-encroachment drive, which is a part of the encroachment campaign being launched in multiple cities. The recently cleared area is worth PKR 1 billion.
The operation was initiated by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday. With assistance from the police, the illegally constructed buildings were taken down. These included several houses, shops, and a haveli. The buildings were occupying 30 plots; each measuring 1 kanal, in C-block of Sabzazar Scheme.

While 75% of land has been successfully retrieved, more still remains to be cleared as restraining orders from courts prevent demolition. The LDA spokesperson has affirmed that operation will be continued without discrimination and relaxation of any kind.
