Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has given a 30-day deadline to wedding halls that have been declared illegal to either terminate their business activities or operate according to the set rules, reports a news source. The drive has been launched on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The development authority has also released a list of illegal wedding halls and marquees in the city through a print notification. According to an LDA spokesperson, the wedding halls and marquees that do not avail the deadline to either comply with the civic authority’s rules or shut down their business operations will be demolished. The LDA rules and regulations make it mandatory for wedding halls to be built on commercial land, have an approved map, and arrange for ample parking space.
The land authority has also requested people to not book illegal wedding halls and marquees to host their functions.
