Islamabad: Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi said on Monday that the government had retrieved 180 out of 240 kanals of encroached land belonging to Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) – a news source reported.
The minister said that QAU’s management had formally requested Prime Minister Imran Khan to look into the matter. He added that the officials concerned were scrutinizing the documents of the remaining 60 kanals.
The operation to retrieve QAU’s land is a collaboration between ICT, CDA and the security forces. The Islamabad Capital Administration (ICT), previously, had been asked to retrieve the varsity land from encroachments.
The QAU administration had also released a statement in this regard. The officials concerned later issued a warning to illegal occupants to vacate the land. The encroachers were also told that they would be held responsible for any damage caused during the demolition drive.
