Rahim Yar Khan: Police has arrested 18 landlords and tenant in violation of the Punjab Information of Temporary Residents Act, a new source reported. According to the Temporary Residents Act the landlord and/or tenant are legally bound to submit the details of any temporary residents including tenants with the local Police Station. Police arrested the landlords and tenants who did not submit their details with the police.
Police was acting on a report that in certain areas the landlords had rented out buildings without the due paperwork.
In a similar development in Lahore, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Muhammad Waqas Nazeer has directed that implementation of tenancy laws should be ensured. He said that special teams should be formed to discourage criminals and to gather data of private and home domestic workers.
