Rawalpindi: A 16-inch-diameter gas pipeline has been linked to Rawalpindi and is expected to reduce the majority of the gas pressure issues in the city – a news source reported. It is estimated that the total cost of the project will be around PKR 52.5 million. Previously, 80% of the gas to Rawalpindi was supplied through Rawat and the remaining 20% was supplied through Ranial.

According to sources, Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amir Ali Ahmad had provided special permission to connect Islamabad’s main gas line to Rawalpindi.

The new gas line was inaugurated by Federal Parliamentary Secretary Shaikh Rashid Shafiq. Speaking on the occasion, he said that this is the culmination of an entire year of effort and that it will benefit a number of areas of Rawalpindi, including Waris Khan and surroundings. He reiterated that this will help resolve 70% of the gas pressure issues in 46 union councils of Rawalpindi.
