Addressing the ceremony, the PM reiterated his resolve to uplift the weak and underprivileged segments of society. The ceremony featured balloting of the finished houses followed by a speech by PM’s aide on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari. As per the sources, these NPHP houses and apartments in Zone V lie at 15 minutes’ drive from Islamabad Expressway. It is reported that each unit has a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen and a bath. The residences balloted were constructed jointly by Workers Welfare Fund and Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development in the suburban Islamabad.
Distributing the keys of the NPHP units, the PM acknowledged the challenge of owning a house in the current economy. He said that the government is paying a subsidy of PKR 300,000 for each unit and the subsidised mark-up rate for NPHP units will stay at 5% for the next 20 years.
