Lahore: The Municipal Corporation of Lahore has approved the project for rehabilitation of 115 dilapidated buildings in the walled city, according to a news source. The project is estimated to cost PKR 200 million.
According to details, the project summary has now been sent to the sub-committee of Municipal Corporation’s Development Department for further approvals. Details of the project were discussed in a meeting, which was attended by Municipal Director General, Secretary, Special Secretary and members of the Old City Authority. The meeting was told that 57 of the 115 buildings will be restored in the current fiscal year, while work on the remaining 58 dilapidated buildings will be carried out in 2018-19.
Under this project, PKR 200 million will be spent on strengthening weak foundations and deteriorating walls of these buildings and improving woodwork, sanitary work, and electrical wiring and fittings in them.
