As part of this shift toward electric mobility, the government is offering a range of incentives to attract private sector investments. Minister Hussain revealed that 31 companies have already shown interest in entering the electric vehicle market in Pakistan, with two companies granted permission to manufacture EVs locally.
The government’s plans also include the introduction of a second electric vehicle policy by November 30 to further promote the use of electric vehicles and incentivize both consumers and manufacturers. Additionally, the Punjab government is working on the development of two- and three-wheeler electric vehicles to complement the nationwide push for electric mobility.
The minister also mentioned that the government had allocated Rs. 4 billion for the promotion of electric motorcycles. As part of the initiative, 100 students will be awarded electric bikes based on merit through a transparent bidding process.

The government’s proactive approach and collaboration with private sector players are expected to play a pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
This move to establish 10,000 charging stations by 2030 is expected to significantly reduce Pakistan’s carbon footprint, improve air quality, and foster a greener, more sustainable future for transportation in the country.
