Dear experts,
Can I use old (used) bricks in building my new house? Is it safe and cost effective?
Should I use them in foundation or in walls?
No harm if bricks are of good quality and clean from mud. Better to save money.
Used bricks may be used in floor base as Brick ballast, In Brick laying of walls it is not advisable because of quality and amount of plaster will increase.
Depends upon quality of bricks and time period for which bricks used in other home. I think there is not so big difference between new and old so I think if you use these in flooring and buy new for construction. It will be safe and you will be mentally relax that is most important for you. Salman,
You can use your used bricks in brick blast. Try not to use them in your foundations as it is core of your whole building structure, but you can use them in your masonry work. It is safe and you will not lose strength of your building. Since job of your wall is to merely transfer load to your foundations which your old bricks can easily bear if your building is property designed by a civil engineer and load is transferred accordingly.
