In latest news, the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has asked for measures pertaining to the revival of the construction industry. However, they want steps taken similar to those in Punjab.
For this, the SRB has made various propositions to FBR and federal government. For example, they have requested for sales tax exemption for various construction related products, as well as on imported machinery.
Similarly, SRB has proposed that immovable property should be exempted from CGT, advance income tax and withholding tax. Further, it has been proposed that the FBR’s valuation tables for immovable properties should be abolished.
For the revival of the construction industry – based on Punjab government’s model–Sindh has also going for the removal of Sindh Sales Tax or SST on construction services for registered persons. The revenue board wants this exemption to last for at least three months. Meanwhile, it suggested continuation of SST for property developers.
Do you think Sindh will actually get any response on these propositions?
