Read the news that senate standing committee on cabinet secretariat has raised its concerns over the proximity of 36 housing projects being developed near the airport and want to cancel noc's and investigation by fia.
Why to cancel noc’s now. As far as i know societies like topcity has all the required noc’s from rda and caa etc.
Does not it sounds like their own interest is involved. Spreading such news will bring down the prices sharply and then they will buy on these dropped prices and will build their own plazas and hotels.
Also i am surprised that lahore airport has big tower flats and other known housing societies within 1 km of the airport boundary and no one has ever raised concerns about it. For example dha phase 8-ex is just across the road from lahore airport. Askari x is 400 meter from runway in direct line of sight. You can see them on google earth. Same i can see in karachi and other cities of pakistan and rest of the world.
Then why they are so worried just 5 months before the inauguration of new airport while topcity is there since 2004. All of the sudden they need 7km non built area arounf islamabad airport. Is this a joke??. People have invested billions in these housing societies.
The amount of development in the societies has been enormous and nearly full infrastructure is in place. Parks, mosque, road, street lights etc.
So in present situation is it really possible what the senate committee is threating???.
The expansion of airport is not being done on the directions of Senate Committee, but rather, it is being done by the Govt itself (CAA).
The survey for land acquisition and expansion was being done even before the last meeting of Senate Committee on the airport site.

It’s not about 7 KM, however, the area in close vicinity like around 1 KM has to be vacated on immediate basis. So not whole of top city but a small area would be affected and they have already negotiated about it with the society. Moreover, land at the back side of the airport and towards Qutbal area is being aquired by the Govt. This is a few kanals approximately. This would not affect top city or any other society, but local villagers or residents of these areas will be affected. They have to vacate the area which is mostly agricultural land.

In pakistan estate prices depend mainly on news, and a rumour is enough to break the momentum. The requirement for 7 km clearance is only in line of runway, from landing and take off positions, and not in the sideways of runway, so no issue at all for top city and mumtaz city, but only some area which might be affected. But its difficult to explain it to general public, but hopefully things will improve as time passes.
Yeah Thanks for clarification. So whats the point of Senate committee saying to recheck 36 societies around airport while all of them are more than 1KM away. Yes top City Blocks G and H and some parts of E & F were very close but as per my knowledge these blocks has already been cancelated and readjusted to other blocks.
I hope the societies will respond sensibly and should make an alliance against such committees and handle the situation in their best capacity
