Property owned by Pakistani national no longer

Hi everyone,

My uncle has an apartment in DHA phase 1 Karachi, which he bought when there was no CNIC system implemented. Then he went to New Zealand and has been living there ever since. Now he is no more Pakistani national as he has not converted his old NIC to CNIC and the same has been lost.

Now the issue is he wants to transfer the property but he is no more Pakistani national but he can provide all the relevant evidences needed from New Zealand embassy of his identification as required.

Please guide us that what should be done in this scenario in the light of relevant applicable laws and regulations.

It will be great of you all.

Thanks

Hi Owais,

I think your uncle should get in touch with somebody from NADRA because as far as my personal understanding goes, your uncle's nationality has not been revoked. I mean, failing to get a CNIC is not a valid reason to revoke someone's nationality.

It's only a simple matter of renewing his NIC or computerizing it, as it goes. Once that is done, there should not be an issue with the transfer of property.

Thanks Nafees for your response,

But i would like to know the scenario if he doesn't get his CNIC renewed. I mean that is there any legal way out to get the transfer done without getting new CNIC.

I want to know the legal process which he must go through to get the transfer done based on his foreign nationality.

If there is any other procedure, i am not aware of it, Owais. Although it beats me as to why your uncle would not want to get his CNIC renewed? Is he trying to save a trip or something like that?

I am not familiar with any other procedure so i will let someone else handle the query for you. Meanwhile, you should drop the NADRA office and get more information on this yourself. What do you say? There is only so much you can get done via internet. :)
