Brothers and sisters, I have a humble suggestion.
There are several threads on which our very learned contributors are quarreling.
For example on the Islamabad Orchard thread and various threads on construction cost estimates, friends are almost coming to blows. I have also seen some threads on which one member even gave his address inviting the other guy to come and settle the matter with a physical fight once and for all!
This is very unfortunate and it is a sad reflection on our ability to debate professionally. More so at a time when our beloved country is facing an existential threat from internal and external violence which is turning almost into a civil war in places such as Karachi, KPK, Balochistan.
At least on this forum, we can set a good example.
For example on the construction threads, H--T and DSA can argue as follows:-
If H--T has quoted rates which DSA or anyone believes are too low, then DSA can simply say:-
"I don't agree with H--T's rates as it is not possible to do a good quality project in these rates. The following points/reasons should be considered: (i)... (ii) ... (iii) etc."
H--T can respond saying this:-
"Dear DSA, thank you for commenting on my post. But I still believe that most of my rates are valid for a good quality construction work. This is because Alam Steel can be bought in the following specs:[ ] at the following rate per girder. In my view in most house constructions you don't need more than x amount of steel or bricks for first lanter etc..."
Brothers these are just examples of how to do a debate on an online forum or even 1 to 1 in each other's presence. You are both highly skilled and educated people but because we are Pakistani we throw in personal remarks which raises the temperature.
A similar peaceful and polite style can be adopted on the Islamabad Orchards thread.
If one of the members throws in a personal remark, my sincere request to the other member is to ignore it. Don't show a knee-jerk reaction of a counter attack. Even you don't need to defend yourself but you can simply clarify your point (without any need to defend yourself - just defend your point and ignore the attack). We all know that the person who launches a personal attack is the one who is wrong and is using these tactics because he has no concrete arguments any more.
Finally, if you have made a particular point once - for example that Orchards is 55km from zero point and too far, please no need to make it again because your post is not deleted. It is still there for everyone to see. If someone has quoted the wrong distance, then only in that case you can clarify what the correct distance is.
Dear brothers and sisters, these are a few humble suggestions to show everyone including ourselves and our younger generation that Pakistan is a Civilised Islamic Country. Please try to understand for the sake of our future and the future of our children as a society. We should not do anything that will make our society unlivable. We cannot all migrate to other countries or can we? Better to make this country a heaven on earth.
JazakAllah.
I agree with this 100%. Some of my remarks against another member were below the belt and infuture i will try to respond more professionally rather than bursting out.
Hear hear!
Very well said, Pk1. Trolls thrive on attention and want you to react. Let's not feed them and they will just go away.
The forum has been in such a sorry state lately that I have not felt like posting anything. Has anybody noticed how Sheikh Abdul was not the only one missing? :P
Jokes apart, the 13 year old posting on the forum need to grow up and the grown ups on the forum need to learn to ignore the children. Eventually they will just get tired and leave.
This is a good place and it has taught people a lot. It has taught me a lot! Let's just try and keep things clean, people.
Pk1..
This is amazing you wrote a bible here hats off to you brother...
Wrong information again n again frustrated but now I shall act as you mentioned InshaAllah.
Stay blessed
Regards
@Nafees butti,
Welcome Back brother you were away quite sometime from here hope all will be ok threre...
Stay Blessed
After so many days .... A good, decent thread... Honestly I'm loving the subject "Professional Debate And Avoiding Personal Attacks"
Thumbs up brother!
... And from my side, it is requested to all, "Keep Calm and Keep Zameen Forum Clean" :D
PK1 good going...... But again you supported mr.khan please keep in mind how vulgar mr.khan responded to the post "Best Answers misuse by gurus" as(choor ki dari mai tinka)on the other hand please note that most of them are against Mr.khan's opinion otherwise they appreciate all other seniors including me
Brother PK1 who wants to fight or argue but when I see Mr.khan misleading people I really feel sorry and pity for those getting into his trap hades-e-nabwi hai,
" Jab tum burai hotay hoe dekho to usay haath se roko, ager haath se rokhne ki sakat nahin rakhtay to usay zuban se roko aur ager zuban se rok nahi saktay to usay Dil mai bura jano"
that's what i'm try to do that's it
Dear Pk1,
Thumbs up... This is indeed need of the day.
But those will not listen to your request, who are here on with set agenda and are paid to disturb the atmosphere over here on this valuable forum.
Have you supported me in your post, I don't think so. But now what will you say to the last post of the person which I don't want to talk to.
I am very sorry to say, that we are Muslims by name and our actions are not reflective of the same. It is just by luck that we got birth in Muslim home otherwise our actions are against it.
I have nothing else to say. What people are thinking about me. I will continue me knowledge sharing in my humble capacity. I give a dam to all those losers...
Thanks and no offense to anyone.
Just be humble as our beautiul religion teaches us. Don't try to make divisions deep. Try to spread love and harmony.
Rule of thumb is as pk1 mentioned, if you are not agreed or want to clarify something just clarify your position with valid arguments without getting offended.
Hatred makes your mind and body sick. Be happy. No one going to take away from someone or no one can give someone something except Allah SWT's will.
Very well and truly written by PK1
and to some extent anti-khan has a valid point
Thanks much for the warm reception, DSA. I was away on business trips, alhamdulillah. All went very well. Hope everyone on this forum is well too.
So now, yes I am back and you will see more of me, inshAllah. :)
Bhatti Sb, welcome on board once again… Wish u safe journey…
Thank you Khan sahab. Wish you all the best too ji.
Dear PK1
Salute
Good suggestions PK1,
Thankyou Pk1 for that post, the need for such advice was increasingly being felt recently. With so many investment options available to investors, people are bound to have disagreements, but the key is to state one's views based on logic and let the readers decide for themselves. That would be true, if what one is sharing is indeed advice, and Not a marketing campaign. If its the later, most sensible readers would easily see through that also.
Secondly, I also wish to welcome back Nafees Bhatti sb, whose posts I really appreciated and followed closely, even before I started posting on this forum myself! I hope your participation will add the same value to these discussions and especially on the questions related to the Lahore property market.
Well said syed amjad hats off to u, v impressive
This thread really shows the positive aspect and sense of maturity of our respectable members. I am happy to be the part of such nice gathering. I also agree with syed Amjad sb post.
Yes it feels a bit messed up... Personal attacks are no good.
But to be fair to others the argument originated when some people felt the seniors are not acting/advising responsibly and there is a lack of integrity. Or some are overly promoting a certain property without due rationales.
I think most of the contributors here are regular, so when someone is being biased its clearly observed. No Drama!
So please for the sake of those who come here to gain some imp info for some very important decisions of their lives, do not force them in the honor of your personal preferences. Give them room to think, not all roads lead to multi orchard or enclave or dha or bahria. There's much more out there which is also good enough to be discussed and appreciated.
And we should all be objective in our postings. We want real content, real info, genuine advices here. Its not compulsory to answer every post every question if you know u aint' adding any value by that. Unbelievably long threads, without genuine data are frustrating.
And am sorry if someone's not being responsible/objective in their advices, anyone has the right to object that, in a decent manner of course.
