Power Of Attorney Info..

I live in KSA with my family & I want to construct a house on my mothers plot in Sabzazar, Lahore on her behalf. I want to know what are the documents I should have for (power of attorney) & from where it should attested. From Pakistan or from Pakistani embassy in Riyadh. So when I come to pakistan I can easily start the work?

I am assuming that you and your mother are in the KSA and your mother will give you POA so that you may act on her behalf. Here is what you should do:

1) Write a complete PoA mentioning what is required i.e. Your mother gives you power to take the possession of the plot, get the map approved from the relevant authorities, start the construction from labor / companies of your choice etc. Etc. ... Make a strong case so that there is no loophole.

2) Take that letter in 2-3 copies to the consulate / embassy of Pakistan in your city in KSA. Since your mother is giving the PoA, she should be present herself to the embassy / consulate. Pls take original Passport, NIC, NICOP etc. ... Along with 2-3 copies of each. Please also take 2-3 pics of your mother. You may read about this on your city's consulate's website. There will be nominal fee. They will attest the document, and will keep one copy with them for their record and handover to your mother the other copy.

3) Now the original of this PoA should be handed over to the person who is getting the PoA i.e. You! Take the original of this and fly to Pakistan. Now ball is in your court.

4) Take the original PoA to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) for attestation. You will have to go yourself along with your NIC. They will return this after a day or 2.

5) Once you have the PoA back from MOFA, please take it to the DC Office (Zilla Kachehry) Lahore. In your case, since it's Sabzazar, I guess you will have to go to Allama Iqbal Town section. Get it attested by them as well. You will get it back in 2-3 days.

6) Once you have the original PoA back from the DC Office, you would have to submit the same to the authority managing your plot (any society, LDA or anyone). Please note that once you submit the original PoA to the relevant society, they will take another week to verify all this, after which you will be able to act on behalf of your mother.

7) Please note: do take one "attested copy" (Musadaqa Naqal) from DC Office, so that you may use it in future whenever needed. Keep the "Document / File Number" and "Volume Number" of the PoA safe with you so that you can refer back to it in future.

You may find a good format of the PoA on internet or try to create one by yourself.

Hope it helps.

That is soooo bureaucratic and red tape.
