Hello - On top of the rental fee advertised are there other 'hidden expenses' for a tenant such as service charge (for apartments or houses on compounds) and any housing tax, lease registration or stamp duty to be paid by tenants.

Housing tax is purely responsibility of the owner.
There are some service charges/maintenance charges in apartments. But not very high. Same for houses on compounds.
Stamp duty is nominal. But if one wants to register its agreement with Registrar in courts, than stamp duty is very high. But 99% agreements are registered with notary and it's very nominal fee.

Would it be correct to say service charges is around 5% of rent monthly or less?
When you say stamp duty is nominal could you give some indication of what it is ? a set fee or a % of rental figure.
