Mumty On Long Span Of Tv Lounge

We recently constructed our house. Issue is mumty that has two walls on the long span of the TV lounge. Our TV lounge is 15x22. Although we put two concede beams in the TV lounge, but I am still worried about the mumty. Will it have any affect on the concrete slab of the 2nd floor? What damage it can cause?

Not much on 15 feet length side. If proper steel is used in slab than no need to worry. Mumty usually has less height allowed in CDA bye-laws.

If still you are worried, you have an option of beam over the slab resting on walls. But there will be problem in door as over the slab beam would hinder clear entrance to room. If no door on longer span side, over the slab beam would be good option.

Concealed beams usually has little benefit.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes height is less, and I have constructed 4 inch walls on the TV lounge. So Mumty has 9 inch walls on the walls coming from bellow and two 4 inch walls on the lounge. I think proper steel was used.

I told my contractor to use beam on the 22 feet side, but he told me that there is no need. The wall on the 22 feet side is constructed after pouring concrete on the slab, so I guess the concrete slab has no weight on the wall that is recently constructed.

If contractor says that no problem than usually it is fine…

Thats why I always advise ppls to get proper construction drawings before start of your

house and it cost nothing but you will be in peace of mind but most of ppls still dont

understand and they are playing with their structure, life and money.

Anyways Good Luck.

Use of steel properly will be good for you. Make sure that the construction material is placed properly and an experienced worker is required for that. As we know there is a wide range of material in market(good or bad), so selection of good material is also very important. Just keep in mind these things and you will get rid of this tension.
