A very basic question but i wanted to know this for may calculations. How many bricks are used per square foot?
And what is the standard size of a conventional brick used in pakistan?
Size of brick is 4"x3"x9" standard size. And 1foot = 12inches.
Dear standard brick size is 9"x4.5"x3"
for calculations of quantity, bricks are not measured in sq feet but in cubic feet.
1 cu ft = 13 to 14 bricks are considered, including n excluding bonding material.

This is a very common and interesting question, so I did a little research. According to my knowledge, people get confused because of the varying measuring units. The dimensions for a standard brick size (or conventional bricks) are as follows:
• Brick size in Pakistan in cm = 22.8x10.7x6.9 cm
• Brick size in Pakistan in mm = 228x107x69 mm (which becomes 200x100x100 mm with 10 mm mortar joint)
• Brick size in Pakistan in inches = 9x4.5x2.5 inches
Additionally, the concrete block size is 356x203x203 mm which translates into 14x8x8 in inches. If you wish to know the weight of a brick is estimated to be 3.2 kilograms to 3.5 kilograms.
These standards aren’t consistent though and vary from country to country. The bricks can be made in a variety of shapes, dimensions and sizes based on the requirement. The brick manufactures follow a standard dimensions relationship of a brick as follows:
2:1 = length: width and 3:1 = length: height
3:2:1 = length: width: height

Calculating bricks per square foot may sound a little tricky but it is a useful skill because by learning how many bricks fit into one square foot, you can estimate the total amount of bricks needed for your project. (Add 5%-8% extra bricks to account for damaged or broken bricks). This is how you calculate how many bricks to fit in 1sqft (one square foot) for whatever construction project you are working on:
Measure the length and width of a standard brick. Multiply them to get the total square inches. Let’s say it’s 8 inches long and 4 inches wide. Multiplying them will give us 32 square inches. (If you want to install bricks with their front faces visible, measure their height and length instead.)
Divide the total square inches (32) by 144 (total number of inches 1sqft). The answer will show that you need 4.5 bricks per square foot (1sqft) to construct your project.
Measure the length and width of the wall (project space). By multiplying them you will get the number in square feet for your project space. For instance, the wall where you are installing bricks is 12 feet wide and 10 feet high. Multiplying the length and the width will give us 120 sqft for the project space.
The amount of bricks for a project will now be calculated by multiplying 120 square feet by the number of bricks in one square foot (4.5). The answer will give you the number of bricks needed to install the wall or whatever your project is (in this case 540 bricks are required). Now add 5%-8% to this number to account for the damaged bricks. Keep in mind that installing mortar-less project will require even more bricks.
