Dha-2 shines with rawalpindi bypass

Rawalpindi ring road changed to bypass road and new feasibility started upon rawat/java/gali/dha-2 route.

Now it could be explained that why dha-2/valley prices are holding while most of the other places are still sinking!

As per my knowledge the whole DHA around Islamabad highway, comprised of DHA-2, extension, valley and also other societies in this area.The ring road is scrapped and now it will not be 70 km, it will be 22km and no economic zones.

Nawaz govt wants it before election to win the seats.

AQ sb, would you like to be bit more explicit and enlighten us about the route of this new bypass. This is indeed a big news, coze I thought anything on CPEC is carved on stone and Nawaz alone can not decide. But if true, then shows that things are not that rosy with Chinese either.

As per my info, bypass will start from rawat and finish at motorway, almost 22-km long. Now u can decide which socities will get more benefit.

The section I mentioned is only a spurr road, not the main one.

Old 70 km is confirmed scrapped.

RDA might change the route once again as brand new feasibility started. The spurr road, is part of the new feasibility to explore!

All is sopposed to come in light in three months.

@Isloo1. The Rawalpindi bypass is not a part of CPEC. It is a local level road project like the Islamabad Expressway signal free corridor, meant to ease traffic flow within the twin cities.

@Abdul Qayyum. If you ask me, this downgrade of an important road from a Ring Road project to a bypass is bit of a disappointment. Although it was expected since Shahbaz Sharif doesn't seem too interested in spending the provincial development budget in an equitable way. Specially at this point, with just 20 months to elections, any new mega projects (cost > 5 billion) outside Lahore are an absolute No!

you are right in your sense but Nawaz party is only interested in winning the seats otherwise outside Lahore they do not like to spend any money!

plus there would be a lot of "juice" for noon dudes just like they made from the metro!

Also there is pressure from agencies as presently all traffic runs thru Pindi/Islamabad posing a security risk for twin cities.

They can do this small road, reduced from 800 to 300 ft sides, before election as it would be a JV with private companies.

Lets hope so Abdul Qayyum Sahab. The track record so far, as well as the expectation to get private sector to do all the investment in such a big project, doesn’t sound impressive. However, if the agencies have an interest like you mentioned, then yes anything is possible. I do sincerely hope that this project sees the light of day soon.

Totally confuse… Can you anyone say where it will start and where it may end … If anyone can draw approx line on map … I know cant be exact but just to give an idea would be great

As per the new feasibility, starting from the Rawat Chuttee bridge and passing between Village Java & Gali, a new branch will be introduced which will join back near DHA phase-2.

Main route is same Rawat to MW but it will be connected to this new branch.

Bypass road, both right of ways reduced and no economic zones on sides now!

Final approval will come from the CM office but the main bypass path still prone to change, it is being said and heard.

What is confirmed is that no 70 km ring road now.

BT was holding some section of phase-8 for the ring road, en route to new airport as well, but now things are not rosy for MR!

MR offered in the past to finance a bigger part thru BT and once it was sure that Shahbaz would come inaugurate this but our great, respectable, muhtrim, hero, brave man .....!!! stands right in between.

They have put an ad in today’s newspaper which is for hiring transaction advisory services for “Rawalpindi Ring Road” project not bypass which contradicts yesterday’s news item. This implies that project has gone back to the drawing board and will be developed from scratch once again which will certainly be a time taking process. The fact that there are no economic zones further reduces attraction for private investors who already cold shouldered the project in past. As Abdul Qayyum sb rightly pointed out, the One private investor who is willing to invest in this is not being welcomed. An interesting but complicated situation.

I hope this would not become another Kala bagh dam!

People have already purchased lands around the old proposed ring road and trying to make this as a new playing field.

Within a week they have changed mind but still I think Nawaz will push it just for the election pre-requisite.

At least it would be half done as people might think: let us vote Nawaz as if Nawaz does not come in power, the road might be stalled as it's been happening in Pakistan all the time when rival came in power They may intentionally do it as 1/2 done from that point of view!

Let's hope GHQ succeeds.

Abdul Qayyum sb I know this is a premature question because the road alignment has not been decided, but do you think this project would benefit phase 8 the same way as DHA, if it does get implemented? I am asking because I just have this bad feeling that it might get designed in a way that BT is left out as a stranger outside the wall. Whats your view?

As I wrote before, BT left some of phase-8 undeveloped just for the ring road but now things are shady for MR.

MR plan was to make wide road beside F blocks and passing through E series, get exit from E1 to reach ring road and get new airport access right from phase-8.

BT patwaris knocked the land owner door all the way to Dina in past time when once it seemed possible. I got this info from field draft man.

Someone, we all know who is someone by the way, is putting influence to alter the route.

Still no confirm news that DHA-2 branch is cancelled.

Moral of the story is:

MR wants to put life in phase-9 dead skeleton and DHA want to put Oxygen in valley by making access to bypass/ring road from DHA-2

Now producing new plan from the sketch board is another story and it may change the whole scene!!!
