Demand And Supply Gap In Karachi Housing Sector

Karachi witnesses a backlog of housing units. Did you ever imagine that Karachi, the city of lights, would ever witness a housing units’ gap? Well, this is a reality now. Rapid urbanisation seems to have a spell on Karachi too, as it currently faces a backlog of about 9 million housing units, compared to a gap of 7.5 million units in 2009, according to a news report.

The State Bank of Pakistan is of the view that the lack of residential units is actually backing the rapid increase of shantytowns, especially in the urban settings.
