Change Forum Ranks Criteria

It seems to me that the criteria of just the number of posts to rank the experts on this forum can be misleading to many new people joining this group.

People should have some feeling of how much weightage an opinion should be given, and at the moment this is misleading I feel. I think this criteria should be changed to the number of most helpful posts or some other useful criteria.

There can be a separate list of people who have the most posts.

Sorry for posting this on the buying property page, as there did not seem any relevant category and I thought this would get the most views.

I hope the members can debate on this.

In my view, FCC you pointed out a very useful idea. Perhaps, ranks may be defined by a combination of no. Of posts, helpful-posts, thanks paid, and any other parameter. Defining ranks is a necessary as forum members sometimes make decisions based-upon “high ranked people say what”. BTW, one word reply/question counts towards an increase in posts. May be at least two lines should constitute a post. Anything below this limit might not count towards the number of posts. Anyhow this is just me point of view; other members may please present their point of view; forum administrator may take our suggestions on-board and devise a criteria to define the rank of forum members.

Yes also, maybe a good idea could be to have a small bio beneath the avatar/picture giving info such as ... If you are an investor /dealer/ first time buyer etc..to give some context to the opinions. Also if you are an investor or dealer, you should list the areas where you have invested or deal in. I mean this can all help the person reading the opinions make an informed decision I feel.

I agree with the suggestion and the proposal by IB seems quite logical. Further, If the person who initiates a thread/question ranks his own reply as the “Best Reply” it should not count in the tally of his best posts. The number of best posts and thanks can then be used as a criteria, with a small weightage for the number of posts only. This will allow ranking on qualitative rather than quantitative basis.

@FCC, you did a very right thing. I myself was of the same view and each and every word you wrote I have been thinking on very same lines. That is really very important to do. There are some start-up people who just keep on posting and their post count goes too high but they know very little about property. I was thinking to post this idea since a month or so but could not do it. I am so happy that you did it. Thanks

You are Welcome Intern. I see this post only has 60 views so far. Probably the topic should have been "Bahria /DHA price crash", that would have certainly been a cause for concern. I hope the moderators take notice and try to do something about this issue.
