Pending for some while now, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to provide the ‘Built-up Property Award’ to seven residential sectors in Islamabad, namely D-13, C-13, C-16, I-17, E-13, F-13, and H-16.
The CDA Built-up Property award will prevent further constructions in these sectors but the authority should have provided these awards at the same time the land acquisition was finalised. However, the failure to do so has allowed additional construction activities to take place.
The other issue is that, once the CDA Built-up Property award is provided, the owners become eligible for alternate plots. Meanwhile, the CDA has already provided this award to C-15 and E-12 but the residents have not yet received alternate plots as per the established rule. This is one of the reasons why development remains ‘on pause’ in these sectors.
Let’s hope that the mentioned seven sectors receive the CDA Built-up Property award soon and that the authority sticks to its own rule of providing alternate plots to the eligible.
