You can buy real estate property in Pakistan but you have to get approval from Board of Investment in Islamabad. I can provide you the reference of a friend who is a corporate lawyer and can assist you with that process.
As for the places where to buy property, I can suggest Orchards Farmhouse scheme of Multi Professional Cooperative Housing Society located about 30 km from main Islamabad. You can get more details about them on www.MPCHS.com. It is a state of the art farmhouse scheme where you cab get plots in many different sizes. To get there you drive,on a motorway where the speed limit is 120km/hr.
