My architect is advising to use 40 grade sarya in my house construction. I am however, advised by many others to go for 60 grade instead. I am confused which one to use. All i know is 60 grade has more strength but is it worth paying more?
It depends on how the pillar beams are aligned and how the steel is being put on the roof. E.g if they are putting steel separately of every room than 40 grade is fine.In this way every room will bear its own load. If they are putting one whole lenght to the roof than 60 grade is preferred. The general thought is the more steel we put the stronger the structure will be which is wrong. You are not suppose to over weight your structure.
BUT all this does not depends on the arguments its depends on your structural drawings. If you need any help do let me know.
