Peshawar: Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) Managing Director (MD) Junaid Khan recently revealed that the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has offered its assistance for introducing sustainable tourism initiatives in the province, a news report reported.

To this effect, UNWTO Regional Director Jing Xu and Executive Director for Technical Cooperation and Services Zhu Shanzhong held a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Department Additional Secretary Tariq Aslam, TCKP MD Junaid Khan and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Spain Khayam Akbar.

Zhu Shanzhong appreciated the endeavours of the KP government for providing facilities to tourists, in addition to promoting tourism in the province. He offered technical support and cooperation in training tourism experts in coping with several challenges, such as ecotourism and sustainable tourism.

He also invited the KP officials to attend the regional tourism conference; scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka this June. The participants emphasised the significance of digital facilities for the promotion of the tourism industry and improved delivery of services.
