Shangla: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Shaukat Ali Yousafzai recently launched a tree plantation campaign that aims to plant over 4.5 million saplings across Shangla district, according to a news source. As per the publication, the initiative will involve a diverse range of tree species and will be carried out with the help of local residents.

Divisional Forest Officer Adnan Ali revealed these details in a ceremony held to launch this campaign. He stated that over 3 million saplings would be distributed among the people during this campaign, while the forest department would plant 1.6 million saplings itself. These saplings are from a diverse range of species, such as eucalyptus, willow, deodar, poplar, sheesham (Indian Rosewood), robinia, and chirr.

He added that the forest department would also distribute 10 saplings to each student throughout the schools in the district, including private schools. Yousufzai stated that tree plantation campaigns were a necessary measure to combat the adverse effects of climate change, and to increase forest cover around the country.
