Lahore: Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Seyyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini recently announced that his country was ready to join the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative, a news source reported. As per the publication, the envoy made these comments while speaking at the Islamabad Policy Institute (IPI) on the topic of ‘Pak-Iran Peace & Security Cooperation’; adding that there was a need to deal with the sanctions and restrictions on Iran that were impeding its efforts for increased economic cooperation.

Ambassador Hosseini appreciated Pakistan’s role in the maintenance of peace in the region, and stated that renewed peace efforts were required for the Middle East. He expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s efforts for maintaining regional peace and stability.

Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy recently revealed that Pakistan and China have successfully completed 32 early harvest projects falling under the auspices of the CPEC initiative during the last five years. The embassy’s publication indicated that these completed projects have helped enhance Pakistan’s power supply infrastructure and transportation. Additionally, the projects have helped create around 75,000 jobs.
