Karachi: Upon the orders of a civil court judge in Mehar, the Sindh Wildlife Department (SWD) on Wednesday released over 5,000 wild birds (previously rescued by the authority) of different species near the Mehar Bypass – according to the news sources. These birds were rescued from a group of seven trappers who fled during a police raid Radhan Railway Station in District Dadu.

The SWD Inspector Abdul Qayoom Channa said that the trappers were hoping to transport the birds to Karachi but left them packed in 14 baskets in order to flee.
According to the SWD officials, over 7,000 birds were rescued from the Radhan Railway Station as well. The court case in that regard is still in progress.

Inspector Channa said that according to the Sindh wildlife department regulations, the offenders of this crime would be penalised with a PKR 50,000 fine; in addition to facing an imprisonment sentence of up to three months.
