Karachi: The Anti-Encroachment Cell recently launched an evacuation plan for the properties that were granted a 30-year lease to be used for poultry farming, dairy farming and agriculture, but had not been utilised for the same; with their leases also having been expired — according to news sources.

This step was launched after the provincial Land Utilisation Department (LUD) brought the matter to the attention of all deputy commissioners, and appraised them about the allottees whose 30-years lease on state land had expired.
With the approval of the Sindh Chief Minister, the intimation letters issued to the old allottees (that assured them that their request would be considered after the ban is lifted by the Supreme Court) have been rendered void. Moreover, all deputy commissioners are directed to further the anti-encroachment drive in a timely manner.

The Sindh government has also directed for the immediate removal of settlements that are using their state land lease for non-conforming purposes. It is expected that thousands of acres of government land will be cleared in the Karachi districts under this grand anti-encroachment operation.
