Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday announced that the provincial government was keen to initiate various development projects under the auspices of the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC), according to news sources. As per the publication, the government will prioritize developing the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone and the Keti Bandar Deep-Sea Port projects in this regard.

The CM expressed his hope that the federal government would support the launch of these mega-development projects. On the subject of the KCR, he stated that the project had been made part of the CPEC back in December 2016, upon the request of the Sindh government.
CM Murad made these remarks during a meeting with a 22-member federal parliamentary committee on CPEC that paid him a visit at his official residence. The session was the first of four such events that have been proposed in order to determine the progress of CPEC projects planned for Sindh. The next two committee meetings have been scheduled to be held in Gwadar on January 21 and 22, with another meeting planned for January 23 in Pasni.

The chairman of CPEC parliamentary committee Mr Arbab said that out of the total shared CPEC projects from all provinces, 27 had been identified as priority projects and 17 had been marked as fast-track projects. These ventures are related to various industries like agriculture, education, health, technical and vocational education/training.
