Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has notified the imposition of Section 4 for acquiring land for the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project, a news source reported. Previously, the Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) had forwarded a summary to this effect to the Punjab Board of Revenue.

In response, the revenue board issued a gazette notification to move the RRR land acquisition process further. Meanwhile, the district administration has commenced with the project survey.
The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), the executing agency for RRR, will complete the land acquisition process through its land collector in the city. On the other hand, the official concerned will proceed similarly in Islamabad.

As per reports, after the district price assessment committee estimates the market rate of the land, the officials concerned will forward the proposal for release of funds to the Punjab Board of Revenue.
Meanwhile, RDA and the district administration are planning to construct a parking plaza near Fawara Chowk. The officials have yet to finalise the exact location for the project. Additionally, construction of new parking plazas on Saddar Road, in Commercial Market, and on Committee Chowk will also begin within the ongoing fiscal year. Also, there would be a new parking plaza on the vast vacant land of GTS Transport Stand – expected to be developed in cooperation with the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB).

Officials have also revealed the administration’s decision to review the plan to prohibit roadside parking in all big markets of the city, along with making the respective roads one-way.
