Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has provided its approval to the imposition of Section 4 for acquiring land to set up new cities along the River Ravi, a news source reported. The River Ravi Zone project will feature various new cities, for which the LDA has announced its decision to acquire 818,000 kanals of land.

Following the instructions of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, the River Ravi Zone project was made part of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP). As per the details shared in December, the Punjab government will set up 12 new cities along the 45-kilometre-long belt of Ravi. These cities are expected to house six million people.

The project will feature an education city, a medical city, a sports city, a financial city, and an eco-city. Further, the LDA has been directed to construct high-rise and mid-rise buildings in the project. As per reports, the provincial government has completed its planning work to set up new cities along the river.
