Karachi: Russian Trade Representative Yury Kozlov on Thursday stated that over 200 Russian companies were interested in exploring investment and business opportunities in Pakistan, a news source reported. As per the publication, the spokesman made these comments while speaking at a meeting of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

Kozlov emphasised that more delegations need to be exchanged between Pakistan and Russia, along with greater participation in fairs, conferences, and exhibitions about investment and economic issues conducted by both countries. He informed that Russia was collaborating with Pakistan in various projects, including the development of the north and south gas pipeline, and the 600-megawatt Jamshoro Power Plant.

The trade representative asked the city’s business and industrial community to participate in Russia’s trade exhibitions. He further asked the KCCI to send a trade delegation to Russia to improve the existing investment and trade cooperation between the two countries.

KCCI President Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan highlighted the potential areas in which Pakistan and Russia could cooperate, such as the oil & gas sector and heavy industries. He also emphasised the need to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Moscow Chamber and Karachi Chamber to further business networks and links.
