Rawalpindi: Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan on Friday revealed that the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) are scheduled to meet next week for decisive talks on the subject of funding for the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project, a news source reported.

Talking to a media platform, he stated that a delegation of the AIIB would arrive in Pakistan next week for the meeting. RDA Chairman Tariq Murtaza and Director General (DG) Ammara Khan, along with other RDA officials, are expected to lead the talks with AIIB for RRR funding, he added.
According to recent developments pertaining to the RRR project, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan is expected to lay down its foundation stone in June.
Furthermore, Sarwar stated that as per plan, the authorities concerned would set up industrial zones, markets, universities, and technical institutions along both sides of the RRR route. He added that the Punjab government would try its best to get the required RRR finding approved from the AIIB.

Previously, Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood had ordered the authorities concerned to redesign of the RRR project. In addition, the provincial government had also taken the opportunity to notify the imposition of Section 4 for acquiring land for the infrastructural project.
