Gujranwala: The Gujranwala Metropolitan Corporation (GMC) on Wednesday announced to rehabilitate 16 major roads in the city; with the project expected to cost an estimated PKR 309.567 million — according to news sources.

Chief Officer GMC stated that this decision was made upon the directives of the Commissioner/ Administrator Gujranwala Metropolitan Corporation (GMC) Zahid Akhtar Zaman, and in consultation with the city’s elected representatives. He added that the road infrastructure projects have already been finalised and that tenders had been invited from all interested firms.

The details of some of the approved projects are as follows:
- A road will be constructed from Gondlanwala Crossing to ADB Chowk, at a cost of PKR 49.814 million.
- Tuff pavers will be installed along the Hafizabad Road, at a cost of PKR 39.760 million
- Chamman Shah Road will be rehabilitated, at a cost of PKR 42.417 million
- The Sialkot Road will be rehabilitated, at a cost of PKR 5.597 million.
- Gill Road will be rehabilitated, at a cost of PKR 34.570 million.
- Shamshi Chowk will be developed, at a cost of PKR 17.674 million.
- Asghar Ali Road will be rehabilitated, at an estimated cost of PKR 22.634 million.
- The Katchery Road will be rehabilitated, at an estimated cost of PKR 14.304 million.
- The Tahliwala Graveyard Road will be rehabilitated, at a cost of PKR 23.634 million.
- The Muslim Chak Road to Qila Mallah Singh is to be rehabilitated, at a cost of PKR 9.270 million.
