Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Commissioner Captain (rtd) Mohammad Mehmood on Wednesday directed the heritage department in Jhelum District to finish restoration work of the Rohtas Fort soon, a news source reported. As per the publication, he also issued orders to launch a tree plantation drive in and around the fort to promote tourism in the area.

The commissioner visited Jhelum to review the development projects in the district. During a briefing, Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa assured Commissioner Mehmood that the development projects would be completed in the specified time.

In turn, the Rawalpindi commissioner asked the authorities concerned that they should conduct third-party audits of all the development projects currently underway in the area, in order to ascertain the quality of work that has been done on each one.

Commissioner Mehmood also took the opportunity to point out the shortage of staff at District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. He asked the authorities concerned to look into the issue and provide quality treatment to the residents of the area, so that patients would not need to go to Rawalpindi for their medical needs.
