Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Friday notified a list of approved housing projects situated within its jurisdiction, according to news sources. As per details, the civic agency declared 48 housing societies to be legal, while assigning the unapproved/illegally developed status to 203 residential schemes.

This list issued by RDA is available on its official website and includes names of 79 illegal societies that are located within its limits. The location-wise breakdown of the remaining housing projects is as follows:
- Potohar Town: 46
- Muree: 49
- Taxila: 24
- Gujar Khan: 05
Furthermore, the civic agency has issued red notices to the managements’ of these societies and has initiated a crackdown. The builders/owners of these illegal housing societies have been asked to stop their advertisement campaigns, as well as plots sales.

RDA spokesperson Hafiz Muhammad Irfan said that layout plans of all legal societies had been approved.
Additionally, on the subject of ‘Clean and Green Index’ initiative, Irfan said that the RDA had issued directives to all housing projects in its jurisdiction to plant 500-10,000 trees in the societies and install water-hydrants at the societies’ entrances.
