Quetta: Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani on Monday said that the construction of Quetta’s first cancer hospital complex would begin in February, a news source reported. He further stated that Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal would inaugurate the facility.

The project was launched in a bid to provide treatment to cancer patients. The provincial executive recently disbursed PKR 1.6 billion for the construction of the hospital; in addition to providing its approval for the issuance of PKR 218 million for procuring equipment and machinery for the Quetta hospital.

Shahwani stated that the federal government had provided support to the province in the cancer hospital project. The hospital staff would diagnose and treat cancer patients in the province and save them the trouble of travelling to other cities, he added.
