Karachi: The Sindh Excise Department has announced its decision try the property and professional tax defaulters under the Land Revenue Act, a news source reported. Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla expressed his view on the matter during a meeting held at his office on Thursday.

To this effect, he stated that the deadline (extended for facilitating the taxpayers) had expired on January 31. The department would now take action against the tax defaulters, he added.
Chawla highlighted that during these proceedings, the department would seal tax-evading shops and other business units – reminding that the action taken would be according to the Land Revenue Act.

On the other hand, he advised the active taxpayers to deposit their dues immediately to avoid any unpleasant situation. Meanwhile, he directed the Excise Department officials to behave in a decent manner with the taxpayers – guiding them in property filing their property and professional taxes.

Secretary Excise & Taxation Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Director General (DG) Excise & Taxation Shoaib Ahmed Siddique, and other officers concerned also attended the meeting.
