The court gave the extension for submitting the progress report while hearing a petition seeking information on the construction of the dams. Taking notice of the propaganda peddled against the dams in the country, the high court bench also directed the government to submit a report on this matter. The court then adjourned the hearing until January 31.
In a previous hearing, the LHC had asked the federal government to provide details on the land acquired and tenders floated for the construction of the dams. Furthermore, it had required the government to offer specifics on the funds allocated for the two projects.
