Lahore: Pakistan has successfully defended its compliance before the FATF – a news source reported. In October, the FATF had given Pakistan time till February 2020 to comply with all its recommendations.

Pakistan has been defending its compliance at an FATF meeting in Beijing through this week. The meeting in Beijing expressed satisfaction over Pakistan’s compliance and it is expected that Pakistan will be moved from grey to the white list. The Pakistani delegation headed by Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar and has been in the Beijing recently.

Pakistan need 12 out of 39 votes in the plenary meeting of the FATF scheduled to be held in Paris on 16 February,2020 to be moved from grey to white list, while it needs support of 3 countries to avoid black list.
A third possibility also exists that Pakistan may remain into the grey list for a period of another 3 to 6 months.
