Rawalpindi: Punjab Parliamentary Secretary Adnan Chaudhary on Tuesday said that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan would inaugurate the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) Rawalpindi project in April, a news source reported. He further stated that the government had identified the land for setting up these low-cost housing projects on Chakri Road and Chaklala Village.

The Capital Development Authority currently owns 1,008 kanals of land in Chaklala Village out of which 500 kanals of land will feature affordable houses. In a related development, the authorities concerned have retrieved 7,000 acres of forest land from illegal occupants. The government plans to construct houses on 3,000 acres of the land retrieved.

The remaining forest land on Chakri Road will feature a new forest. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar will inaugurate the project soon.
Secretary Chaudhary stated that the construction of NPHP project in Rawalpindi will mark the start of a new era for the city. He added that the initiative would produce more employment opportunities for the locals.
