Lahore: Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mehmood Rasheed has directed the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) to finalise a plan for setting up the proposed Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) projects in Sialkot and Chiniot, a news source reported.

He gave the directives while presiding over the 64th meeting of the PHATA Board of Directors. The meeting discussed the amendments proposed in the PHATA Ordinance. PHATA officials briefed the minister on these amendments to facilitate private builders to get them on board to develop low-cost housing projects planned under the NPHP initiative.

PHATA Director General Nadeem Sawar also shared a report on the implementation of previously given directives. Addressing the meeting members, Minister Rasheed said that private sector was being encouraged to take part in the government’s flagship low-cost housing project. He also said that related housing rules were being amended to facilitate real estate developers.
