Karachi: Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla recently directed the department officials concerned to extend the deadline for filing professional and property tax until January 31, according to news sources. As per the publication, the minister also stated that no other extension would be forthcoming following postponement.

The minister made these remarks while presiding over a review meeting. He warned that in case of non-payment of taxes, the defaulting outlet or property would not only be fined but also sealed. He said that this extension had been granted for the facilitation of the taxpayers. He added that the provincial excise department would be constantly available to those who required assistance in filing their tax returns.

Additionally, Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui appraised the meeting that businesses now had the benefit of getting registered with the tax authorities through a simple procedure that could initiate by logging on to www.excise.gos.pk and www.business-sindh.gov.pk.
