Haripur: The representatives of several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have requested the provincial government to empower the district level social welfare/industrial development departments and deputy commissioners for the issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs) and registration licences, according to news sources.

They expressed their views on the matter during a meeting of NGOs which are operating in Haripur district; held at the conference room of the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI).
The speakers highlighted the problems being faced by the local NGOs and said that these organisations had contributed significantly to the national economy; bringing foreign funding to the tune of billions. The maintained that the projects initiated by the NGOs created thousands of employment opportunities.

They further lamented that these social-welfare institutions had made significant contributions to the development of the skill capacity of the masses, especially women, in the fields of health, agriculture, environmental awareness, education, human rights, and governance.
