Gujranwala: The Punjab government has announced that housing schemes in the city can no longer get utility connections without procuring a suitable NOC (in each individual case) from the authorities concerned, a news source reported. To this effect, the provincial executive has ordered the Internal Departmental Committee to implement the Punjab Private Housing & Land Subdivision Rules across the city.

According to guidelines communication, the NOC for installing sewerage, water, and gas connections in a housing society is now subject to approval granted by a committee formed for this purpose. The committee comprises members from the Urban Development, Public Health Engineering, and Local Government departments.

The committee will inspect the on-ground situation in the society and share its recommendations with the departments concerned regarding issuance of the utility connection. The Gujranwala deputy commissioner will provide the final approval on this front.

In a similar development, the Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) has announced its decision to launch a crackdown against illegal housing schemes and land subdivisions in the city.
