Another official said that the law was originally meant for Islamabad but the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments were also planning to follow it.

NADRA will now issue succession certificates to legal heirs in case of an individual’s death, according to the family tree registered in the database. Under the new law, the authority will set up facilitation units to receive, process and verify applications to grant these documents. In case of any discrepancy, the unit can decline the applications to be refiled before the appropriate forum as per the regulations.
Additionally, NADRA is supposed to manage an online portal to provide the updated records of succession certificates and letters of administration issued under the new law.
