As per the publication, the government authority will initiate the due process to award formal long-term contracts for the venture once the aforementioned five months have passed.

An LWMC official revealed that the terms of both the current contractors tasked with waste collection in the city would be ending this month. However, as the government has not determined the model for the next contracts, this short-term arrangement would be used instead.

He explained that there were various models under consideration. These included the municipal corporation collecting the waste itself or undergoing the primary work (collection) while outsourcing the secondary work (transportation). Alternatively, the LWMC may do the collection and depositing work itself, whether fully or partially. The officials are considering all of these options, and a final decision is expected in the next month or so — after which the formal contract process will begin.
The LWMC official revealed that Lahore will be divided into six zones and that bids will be called for work in these zones over the next five months.
