Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Thursday submitted its latest version of the Lahore Master Plan, which has been extended till 2050, in the Lahore High Court — a news source reported. As per the publication, the plan also included details about the administrative and functional boundaries of the city.

In addition, the LDA submitted the details of a tree plantation drive that aims to plant over 5.13 million trees within the next 4 years. A report released by the development authority also revealed its intention to pass a new legislation that would make it mandatory for all one-kanal houses in the city to plant at least ten trees on their premises.

Earlier, Chief Justice (CJ) Mamoon Rashid had expressed his concerns over the cutting of trees in various parts of the city, and questioned the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) on their performance in this regard. The CJ admonished a PHA official for ignoring the trees cut down by a hotel management on Edgerton Road. He also expressed concern over the expanding boundaries of Lahore and quipped that the city should perhaps be renamed ‘LDA’.
