Quetta: The Balochistan cabinet has provided its sanction for the allotment of 750 acres of land to the Ministry of Defence Production for the development of a shipyard in Gwadar’s Pasni district, according to news sources. As per details, the land will be allotted on the basis of 30% equity and a provincial share of 20-30% has been agreed upon.

Provincial government’s spokesperson Liaquat Ali Shahwani said that this shipyard project would create about 10,000 employment opportunities for the youth of Balochistan.
This decision of land allotment was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Friday. It reviewed the proposed amendment to the Local Government Act 2010 and decided that it shall be finalised and introduced before the next elections.

Further, the meeting agreed in principle that local bodies would be established on three levels of Union Councils, Municipal Committee/Corporations and Metropolitan Corporation in Balochistan. The cabinet also approved the draft bill for the Balochistan Cadet Colleges Act, 2019.
