Lahore: Lahore’s ranking in Numbeo’s – a global crowd-sourced online database of comparative quality-of-living statistics – World Crime Index (WCI) has improved by 56 places from its previous placement of 2019, according to the recent ‘Crime Index by City 2020’ listing published on the portal. The other indices offered on the site cover continually updated listings for the cost of living, property prices, and health care; among others.

This revision comes with the positive implication that the city has been deemed safer than other major global metropolises such as Paris, New York City, Chicago, and Berlin – all of which are ranked on lower positions on the same listing. A higher scale number corresponds with a drop in crime rates.
Lahore, as such, was ranked 230 out of a total of 374 cities in January 2020; whereas its ranking in January 2019 stood at 174. Karachi’s ranking was also seen to improve by 22 places, from 66 to 88, in the same time period.
